Preproduction Begins

August 29, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Yesterday I began a new audio project for the fall. I will be working with Eric Peters on this recording and that is something I’ve been looking forward to. This project consists of four songs, two of which Eric will record. The other two song we’ll record are by Jeff Woods. I will produce two of the songs(EP’s) and engineer two other(Jeff’s). Darryl Leach is my partner in crime and I really enjoy working with him.

Eric and I laid down preproduction tracks for the two songs at he and Danielle’s lovely house in Nashville yesterday. I enjoyed invading their living room with recording equipment and being offered Kool-Aid. For those of you that aren’t familar with the terms “preproduction tracks” they are recordings that help prepare the musicians and producer for the trip into the studio…a preview of what is to come so that preperation may commence. The two songs are gonna be fun to work with. Here are some pics of this:

Summer School Finished…Vacation Time

August 10, 2006 · 4 Comments

Summer school is officially over as of 1 hour ago. I am done with the 5.1 Surround mix, but it won’t be posted because most people don’t have surround decoders on their computer speakers. Holla if you do and I’ll put it up just for you. Kelsey and I fly out tomoroow to go to Seattle and Vancouver Island. We are so excited and I am especially pleased with the high of 70’s low of 50’s temperature awaiting us.

I’m already thinking about the fall and the next project that lies ahead, but not anywhere near starting it.  For now I will try to clear my head for 10 days and just relax.

I realize I haven’t put a bunch of personal comments on this blog so here is a rare gem. God has definitely been timely in my life. Kelsey and I are amazed by the new friendships, jobs, convictions, struggles, and freedom that God uses to shape our lives. I hate to compare our spiritual life to my graduate school, but similarly the more I know the more I realize I don’t know…and that’s ok. I realize that if I can be honest and teachable that God will make up the difference. He’s great like that.

P.S. Where does the slang word “psych” come from? After doing some research, I am convinced that it stands for “psychology” so I’m gonna start using the full word. (i.e. Justin has a small head…PSYCHOLOGY!)

New Audio Posted

August 1, 2006 · Leave a Comment

I have new audio posted on my website from the bluegrass sessions. I’m not 100% sure these are the exact final mixes, but they are pretty close. Oh…and eventually I’ll revamp my audio page on the website so it won’t take so long to load.
